CO2 –Regulation for heavy Commercial Vehicles

The issue of CO2 will gain importance for commercial vehicles in future

The European Union strategy foresees a reduction of the greenhouse gases from the transport sector by 60% by 2050 (referring to 1990). For this purpose, the CO2 emissions from freight transport will be monitored in the future. To determine the CO2 emissions from freight traffic, a simulation tool will be used in the entire EU. TÜV NORD is participating actively in the development of this new tool.

The Simulation VECTO is based on drive-profiles of defined vehicle segments. The diversity encompasses the service bus, via delivery trucks, up to the long distance truck. The CO2-relevant parameter of the present vehicle combination are measured. Those are for example air resistance and rolling resistance and the efficiencies of engine, axle and gear box. Fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions are influenced by countless factors, such as area of application, mass, driving performance and many more.

TÜV NORD supports you with the determination of CO2 emissions of commercial vehicles.
